This girl and I had flirting, and I laid it to her straight out that she is my type but things would never work between us. She said she was not trying to flirt, and we agreed to be friends. Neither of us wanted things to be awkward either. Well, at first we didn't talk much, but lately she is back to how she was. She pulled me by my coat sleeves and gets me alone to talk again. And the other night, she started touching my hand again after I said some things. She also tapped my leg with her foot under the table. What is going on here??

She may be playing hard to get or she doesn't really know what she wants. Seems that she does like you by her actions. I would listen more to her actions than what she says right now.

She is waiting for you to put it out there again. I'd simply force her to put it out there this time. That way if she can't commit to it, you'll know exactly where you stand with her. You can say, "I'm glad it didn't work out." Because you would have had a very rocky relationship.
If on the other hand, she does make the move and decides, "I want you to know that I want you as more than a friend." You need to make up your mind, "Do I want to be in this with her all the way or do I want to be her friend?"

it sounds to me that its not her.it sounds like you are the one who needs to check them self because you say shes back to how you started if you don't want it the tell her if you do then tell her it is all up to you.you said it would never work but you didn't say why.if shes your type then wheres the problem
