I guess it goes against certain passages of the bible. Of course, using the same logic, women are totally unclean when they menstrate, daughters can be pretty much bartered away, and slavery is just fine.
What cracks me up are the accusations that the books teach kids spells. They teach kids to butcher Latin, but some Latin is better than none, I guess.

Actually us Bible Thumpers are not jealous because we know there is no power stronger than that of God. Jesus has power over Satan. Witchcraft, which is what Harry Potter teaches, is against God's teachings.
When Satan tried to match wits with Jesus in the Bible, Satan always lost. I for one am not a conservative. I am a fundamentalist. Being considered a conservative, to be, would be like calling me a liberal..

I'm a Bible "thumper" (even though you use it in the perjorative sense, I'm not offended) and I LOVE Harry Potter, I have all the books and have read each one at least twice, I have all the DVD's and have seen each one at least three times.
Some people that don't understand it, don't like it.
Out of curiosity, what do you call muslims that don't like Harry Potter?

I don't hate Harry Potter. The fact of the matter is I've just no interest in Harry Potter whatsoever. Harry can make pots, or plant seeds in soil in pots, or whatever it is he does, and it makes no difference in my day-to-day life, so why should I care?

I'm a Bible-thumper...
At least, I've been called one.
And I'm an avid Harry Potter fan.
But then, I'm not much of a fan of the "conservative right".
Come to think of it, I'm not too keen about the "liberal left", either.
Oh, well...."mischief managed".......

Young fertile minds will end up believing the wrong things, that is the major worry !!! So read the following from the bible.
"There shall not be found among you anyone who make his son or his daughter pass through the fire, or one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. For all who do these things are an abomination to the Lord ...." (Deuteronomy 18:10)

According to most Christian thinking, anyone who uses magic (without express authorization from God) is guilty of something evil...namely witchcraft or soccery which the bible generally condemns.
