Yellow Tail is a decent table wine for the price.
Also, as mentioned, Charles Shaw, found only at Trader Joe's (Two Buck Chuck in California, Three Buck...elsewhere) is also good table wine. Both brands offer different varietals...Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, etc.
Rosemount is also pretty good and inexpensive. They've actually won a few awards, too.

They're obviously not what one would have at a fancy dinner party, but to have a glass or two with dinner on a more regular basis, they're pretty good. There's much worse for much more out there.

I in basic terms partly agree. A $5 wine is often not large and often is a jug wine. passable yet not memorable. very stable wines may be had for in basic terms $15 whether. the element approximately wine expenditures is that its not the generic of the wine that dictates the fee. an stunning $15 bottle of wine could be rated equivalent to an stunning $60 bottle of wine. the version is that the $60 bottle is rarer. that's, the vineyard that makes the $60 wine in basic terms allotted 500 cases while the $15 bottle became area of a 50,000 case lot. Low distribution mediocre wines do not sell properly yet low distribution large wines are snapped up by using the wine creditors and intense end eating places and for this reason the intense fee. costly wines carry an appeal and a mystique yet in maximum cases have an equivalent wine in a a ways decrease budget

Yellow Tail is actually very good, I like it a lot. I don't know where you live, but if you are in New England and have a brand of supermarket called Trader Joes, they have TONS of delicious cheap wines. I don't knwo the brands, but they are specific to the store. Everyone I know goes there to buy cases full.

My favorite is a soft red wine, "Lambrusco, Reunite." You can find it at almost any drug/grocery store, and it's about $5-7 per bottle.

Do you have a Trader Joe's near you? They have what's called the "3 buck Chuck." You can buy full bottles of wine for $3, and they have varieties such as Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot. Their Merlot is perfect, no too sweet, not bitter at all.

Goto a wine specialty store and check out the bargain bin. Here in Chicago we have Binny's Liquors and in the bargain bin I've gotten many decent red wines for $2.99. Yes you read that right.

Occasionally I get a bad one, but I remember those brands and don't buy again.

Yellow Tail is just fine. When in doubt, go with a cheap wine with a small Australian animal on the bottle. Sounds stupid but its true. :) And if you don't know what varietal you want, I'd go with a chardonnay and a Cabernet.

As far as price, you usually get what you pay for with wine. Monkey Bay Sauvignon Blanc is good, but it's ~$9. It's white and a little fruity-sweet.

White: Vinh Verde $3.99 at Trader Joe's
Red: Purple Moon Merlot $3.99 at Trader Joe's

(They have LOTS of great wines that are less than $10.00 a bottle.)
