Generally a doctor will perform an abortion on a 4-5 week pregnancy at the earliest. Terminations during 6-9 weeks are the most common. (She asked for facts, not opinions. Did she even say she was getting an abortion? NO.)

A fetus is not considered VIABLE until 24 weeks. So up until 23 weeks you can have one though that is considered a LATE TERM abortion. I gave birth to my daughter at 23 weeks 2 days and its a miracle she survived. She is 13 now and if any of you ever even see a 23 weeker you'd not make this choice they are tiny, fully physically developed {but vital organs are not} and look like barbie dolls. My daughter was 1 pound 7 ounces and is still the love of my life.

It isnt cruel. A baby isnt consider a baby until it is delivered. It is called an embryo then a fetus up until deliverly day. You can only have an abortion within a short time period. Usually 1 to 2 months i believe.
I dont think anyone should use abortion as their form of birth control (and probably no one does because it is expensive and stressful). I think abortion is great for a woman who has been raped or is told if she has a baby she will die. That is the only reason I would ever consider getting one.

It totally depends on what country you live in, in the world (and if you live in the USA, what state you live in).
Thats the weird thing - i.e. in the USA, even down to it being a few miles apart, two women in the same circumstance could have totally different experiences if they got pregnant. i.e. I used to live in Namibia (southern Africa) and if women wanted an abortion they had to drive 1000 km to South Africa in order to get one.
I used to be really anti-abortion and thought that it was the cruelest and sickest thing ever (to be honest, I really don't know one way or the other now). I used to think that the pro-choice brigade really played up the whole 'women have backstreet abortions' stuff and that it was a load of rubbish as women would never do that. But in Africa I saw with my own eyes, women who made their own concoctions in order to 'miscarry'. One of my friends nearly died from obtaining the abortion pill off the black market and she 'overdosed' because there were no instructions with it.
Like I said, maybe I am ducking the issue by not judging anyone in relation to this. But it IS weird that an abortion could be performed after a baby could survive outside the womb - i.e. in the UK it can be performed upto 28 weeks, when we have records of babies (or 'foetuses' as some prefer to call them) being able to live with artificial support at 22 weeks....

It is every woman's right to choose because it is their body. I haven't had an abortion either but if something were to be wrong with the baby, my health or how the baby got here (ex. Rape) then i would have one.
I don't put people down who have had abortions. If anyone had to walk a mile in their shoes then might would know what it's like to have to choose.
Anyhow only god can judge the ones that have had abortions. But to answer your question i seen on a website that they can perform an abortion up to 24 weeks..

24 weeks in most states but up until delivery if it is determined beyond a shadow of a doubt that the pregnancy will kill the mother. This is considered partial birth abortion. They induce labor, pull the baby out until the base of the head shows, and then stick a long needle in the base of the brain and suck the brain out through a tube.
