No. The "anxiety" is a result of nicotine withdrawal. Smoking just gives your body the fix it thinks it needs, and relieves the withdrawal symptoms. Actual anxiety and stress isn't relieved by smoking, you're brain is just on a drug that also causes cancer. Go to a doctor to get actual medicine if it is a real issue.

Only if you are addicted... And it is a fleeting sensation once you satisfy your craving... You are an anxious basketcase again in no time. You become a slave to a cylindrical piece of paper. You will put all your important bills on the back burner to support your habit. You smell bad all the time, you have decreased lung capabilities. You will be a greater risk for heart disease, and most likely suffer lung cancer at some point. You will die a slow death, gasping painfully for air, choking on it when you do get it... Smoking kills the smoker AND anyone near them. It's a horrible habit... If you are stressed and anxious, talk to your doctor about healthier choices... Good luck!! ♥

Cigarettes were made to help calm the senses, provide relief and keep one warm on cold days like a drink. Some people smoke to be considered 'in' or part of a clique while others due to curiosity or peer pressure and a lot more reasons. Instead of enjoying their puff, they get headaches and become more depressed.

yes. Phsyiologically, smoking may excit the system, but the smoking habit keeps the hands busy, and gives the person a brief break when smoking, which definitely brings a relief of stress and anxiety.

Nope. You develop "smokers' hack," a rough hacking cough, which causes physical stress. You also get anxiety when that butt is burning close to your fingers -- you chuck it out the car window, but did you check to see that a police car was following you?

It appears that is a short term result. The stress and anxiety from dying from lung cancer or heart disease should also be considered.
