she also seems to be scratching at it alot lately. She hasnt worn a flea collar in at least 8 months. i dont think it is fleas because all during her pregnance, she has been indors. she has been the only animal in the house untill she gave birth. she also has not had a bath since we became aware of her pregnancy. she gave birth on august 23. if you have any idea of what this may be, please help me because my mom said if we dont find out what it is and clear it up, then were getting rid of her

If you have an unprotected, from fleas, animal in your home, you have fleas, especially if she came in and out. That type of scabbing could be from fleas, flea allergies, healing from the tom that mated with her or an allergy of some other sort. Talk to your Vet about what to SAFELY use on her since she has nursing babies.

It sounds funny but it sounds like "scabby cat' which can be from allergies or from the stress from having babies could have brought it on. They just keep scratching and it doesn't have time to heal. The vet can give a vetalog shot to help with the itching. Do not put a flea clooar on her as this will make it worse and they don't work anyways. If she has fleas use frontline.

I agree with 'sred' it sounds like a flea rash (it just takes 1 bite to trigger it, so she would not nessesarily have fleas) - it is possible to treat it at home but your best bet is to take her to the vets, reason being we could advise you to treat her in a certain way and it could be she has something totally different wrong with her.
Good Luck and I hope she's better soon.

p.s. I know its hard with family, but try and stand your ground with you mum. Animals are truely great friends ad should not be disgarded on a whim.

Are you sure she's had all the kittens she's going to have? My cat did that when there was a blockage (a dead kitten blocking the exit of the remaining live ones) and needed outside intervention. Suggest you ring the vet and / or take her there.

piss poor reason to get rid of a cat! Is it pussing or anything?? Maybe it has something to do with the hormones?

if its like circular...it my be ring worm...which is like a fungus...but you might have to take it to the vet....if you can't, I heard that selsum blue clears that up..but I'm not sure if you should used that since your cat is nursing...try put petrolum jelly on it...lightly...it'll help encourage her not to scratch...but wipe it off if she tries to lick it
