Guadalajara is the capital of the state of Jalisco.

Ok, Mexico is divided into states, just like the US. Jalisco is one of them, and Guadalajara is the capital. Also, within the state of Jalisco you can find Puerto Vallarta, the well known beach destination.
I'll give you the States and their capital, with some of the other important cities (I just don't have anything better to do right now hehe)

JALISCO IS A STATE AND IT IS SUPER NICE.
GUADALAJARA IS A AWSOME CITY WITHIN THE STATE OF JALISCO.
