looking for on a date and what would you as someone in that age group want to do on a date?

I have been out of the game of dating for some time and I'm just curious as to what has changed.

A woman of 40 is still young and we like to do pretty much what anyone else does on a date - spend quality time together. We know at 40 plus what we want and what we don't want. We're not undecided, flighty and flakey. We want you to treat us well, to be polite and courteous, open the door, say please and thank you, treat the wait staff with respect too. For a first date, if you don't know her, coffee is always easy. Or a cocktail and if you hit off, then you can go somewhere for dinner - then ask her what she likes to do. Good luck.

As a woman in her 40's I'll tell ya that we aren't afraid to tell you what we want. Don't be "flashy," be yourself, be honest, listen listen listen to her...she will tell you what she likes! Don't try to get in her pants on the first date - that is the act of a 20 year old... dinner in a quiet spot where you guys can talk - and be at ease... you probably won't have to "impress" her with your money cuz she has her own... dress up nice - cuz we hate sloppy. But most of all... LISTEN to her!! A walk in the park, along the beach, or in a safe downtown area is nice...but check to see that she has shoes that will ALLOW her to walk (grin)... steer clear of politics and religion for now... ask her what she thinks her greatest accomplishment in life has been so far, what is something she hasn't done that she would like to do, places she has visited... 40+ women have been places and done things that they are proud of! Let her talk about that stuff!! You'll get alot of insight into who she really is and make a mental note of what to do on your next date. The last piece of advice... if you are NOT planning on seeing her again, tell her. We don't like being "strung along" just because you are afraid to hurt our feelings... and if you say you'll call... CALL. Your biggest "points" are from being honest with tact...

I think that depends on factors of why shes wanting to date too. Does she still have kids at home? Looking to get away. Or did she just get divorced. Possibly not yet knowing how to be alone or what she wants. Maybe the kids just left for college, and shes been waiting to kick up her heels...let it all hang out...Be wined and dined... You get my point. As for myself, I just recently 39sh (I'm now almost 42) went out on my first real date since I was 16. I was widowed at almost 21. With a new baby, so I've been busy with responsibility stuff. What It boils down to is, as it's always been, WHAT ARE YOUR OR HER INTENTIONS... So talk about that stuff...

Aren't those called Cougars? Older women who prey on younger men for use as toys?

Have fun and stop taking it so seriously. You've already been through your stupidity stage and all the others that follow, so there's no need to worry about mistakes. You'll be great. Have a good time. Enjoy your freedom.

Dinner is always nice, go someplace quiet enough that you can talk. Concerts are good. My personal favorite place for a date is the zoo. Theres plenty to see and do, its never boring, and you'll have lots to talk about even if you don't have lots to talk about, you know?
Good luck, have fun!
