A fair amount I'm sure. But I have generally found that the people who are the best Moms are the ones who will never say they are. They are the Moms who g out of their way to do all they can for thier kids...drive the carpool, do the scouting, help with homework, plan the sleepovers, take care of the house (and often times earn the money to pay for all of this), but still know there are things they could be better at (or think they could be better at). The best Moms are the ones who never stop doing, trying, talking, going, being and thinking...and when they are told they are best, just raise an eyebrow and go "Hey...what else would you want me to do? I love my kids and that;s what a Mom does."
PS...I think smoking is a gross habit, in front of anyone!

I don't claim to be the best mom but I'm a good mom... and I don't smoke around my son but I do smoke. Out side. He's never seen me smoke and most likely never. I've tired to quit for years and feel bad that I ever started... maybe people should stop judging others on this site seeing as it's just a place for people to ask questions to be answered by people who know the answers... what's worng with you people who don't have enough of your own problems to worry about... GET A LIFE! Sorry must be in a bad mood

I don't claim to be the best mom [I just know it..hee hee] - JUST KIDDING. I do not smoke around my child. If I want to smoke, I go outside and it's usually after the child is long asleep. People used to think I was crazy for going outside to smoke, but now everyone does it. Who still smokes in the house? Or in the car with their kids? Do people really still do that?

what makes me *TOTALLY* psycho nuts is when I drive by a car, see all the nice little windows rolled up, and two, maybe three kids in the car, and one, or even sometimes BOTH parents SMOKING! I HATE that! Here in Texas they are trying to pass a law that you cannot smoke in a car with anyone under 18 in it, or at least the law was in "talks". I get so angry because a friend mom was changing her diaper when she was little, and burned her with the cig she was HOLDING, imagine that , HOLDING, while trying to change a squirming, kicking and probably arm-flaling childs diaper! I am a mother of three boys, 12, 9, and 8 and IF I did smoke, I would not do it at *KEAST* while I was doing the doody-duty... Or, the lady I saw in labor who was puffing a ciggy at the entrance and sweat pouring down her face, refusing to go in till she "COULDNT TAKE THE PAIN NO MORE" (HER words, not mine), cause she knew once she was checked in it was bye-bye smokies... HORRIBLE....at least let the tyke out BEFORE you kill it, just a thought...

LOL Good point. I DID smoke after my second daughter was born and I apparantly one day (I'm told this as a story and I do not remember) picked up my daughter and blew smoke into her face as I am told. If smoke went into her face I was unaware but that's not the point. I no longer smoke after I heard this story- I felt like total crap over it. However this story was told by my best friend's friend who said she didn't like me because of that reason.
This is the same girl who smoked cigarettes and weed and drank while pregnant- and she didn't like me because I accidentally let some smoke into my daughter's face? (Not offering excuses- it was wrong of me and I admit that) but perhaps we should be looking at the other side of the coin. When I confronted the girl about how she smoked FOR her child she said that it wasn't going into his lungs. Nope- she's right, it wasn't. It wasn't being filtered through his lungs at all- just going straight into his blood stream and affecting his birth weight and giving him allergies before he's ever born.
I think we should be looking at THAT as a problem and then turn to the mommies who smoke.

I don't claim to be the best mom or anything else, but I do smoke cigarettes, and I do smoke around my children occasionally. I know I'm far from perfect.

I try to be the best mom that I can be. I would never say that I am the best mom because this is my first child and I am learning everyday...
However, I do smoke. I would never smoke indoors where my child could smell it or see it. I smoke outside, and when he comes outside with us, I do not smoke or he is in his stoller, facing the other way with me standing far away from him and his father and I will trade places so that we can both smoke.

My husband is a smoker and he rarely smokes in front of our children. For myself as a non-smoker, I feel that as a mother that I am setting an example and I would never smoke in front of my children. To be the best mom possible, you need to be a good role model.

babies and children have sensitive developing lungs many moms aren't educated enough to know the damage they do with smoke or air fresheners and other strong fumes and perfumes or bug sprays etc... none of it is good for little (or big)lungs.
parents should at least smoke outdoors.no chemicals period in the house
there is a reason childhood asthma is up.
I'm a smoker but not indoors with children, it is just wrong.

All of the smoking ones do. **cough cough** Although....as I recall...Dawn Davenport, star of "Female Troubles" did not smoke and she was also not an exceptionally good mother. No surprise though. That little ***** of her's named Taffy and her G.D. jump rope were enough to make any sane mother crazy! Remember?
Many children or the 40's 50's and 60's had smoking mothers and look how we came out...uh...well.....nevermind...haha
