Will Sanctions work on North Korea?

Historically, "sanctions" have proven to be a miserable failure as a coercive tactic. Nations simply aren't swayed by them, esp. nations under a brutal tyranny like N. Korea where the leaders couldn't care less about how much their people suffer.
Either we will use military force to disarm Kim Jong Il of his nukes or he will continue to develop them. It's as simple as that.

I think sanctions may not work. Kim Jong seems to already have calculated this possibility in making his alliances with Iran and Venezuela's Hugo Chavez.

The first 'sanction' we should impose is to stop sending North Korea all the oil and food that Clinton established in his deal in which Kim Jong promised not to pursue nukes. Cut 'em off, since he violated the deal. I think those resources are better used at home now.

Ultimately, it seems the Axis of Evil, now including Venezuela, is arming up for an expected showdown.

As long as we have China and Russia backing the Sanctions we are cool. Diplomatic relations are always the best way to start. We had 13 yrs of Diplomatic relations even in Iraq before we went in.

Only if the Chinese impose them. If the North Koreans were a 4 legged chair 3 of those legs are Chinese. They supply most of their food and almost all of their fuel.

what the devil is wrong with you..if we start a war its might be the end..think again. an america dosent have the army to go fight in north korea..it will end up being another vietnam or a nuclear war.
