It's not my story, but it's a goodun. June 28th was my buddies birthday, and his girlfriend threw him a surprise party. He's 29, so he totally knew something was happening, but not what. She rented out a bar called "Middle Earth" (because they're both into that sort of thing), and we all partied like madmen. Then when they pulled out his Birthday Cake, he pulled out his grandmother's engagement ring. BAM! Suprise party suprise! He gave a nice speech along the same lines, and it seemed like forever before he took a knee. I didn't want to be that drunk guy yelling at him during a beautiful moment, but he must have stood there for at least 5 minutes before he remembered. That was okay, because it was 10 minutes before she stopped laughing and crying enough to say "Yes". Six weeks later, Sep. 16, we all stood on the beach at sunset, and watched them speak their vows. Hooray!

He asked me what I wanted for my Birthday and I said I want to get married. We had been living together for several years. On my birthday he came in carrying a cake with "Will you marry me?" on it. Of course I said yes. We went out to look at rings and found the perfect ring for the perfect price. On Oct 21 2006 will be our first anniversary of a hopefully very long and happy marriage. We get along so well together. We appreciate the little things the other does. It is truely the small things that matter. We fuss very little with each other always trying to understand where the other is coming from. In seven years I can only remember three arguments. I hope you also have such a wonderful life!!!!!

Gotcha girl here goes......on my 30th birthday, my (now husband) took me to a fancy reservation only resturant, after dinner he phoned someone telling them that we would be late for our reservations. I was wondering what we could possibly have reservations for since we had already eaten dinner. (We live in a large metropolitain area) We then headed downtown and stopped outside a large upscale hotel and we walked through the lobby and out the back were there was a white horse drawn carraige ( he did this because I love Cinderella) we went on the carraige ride through the city and then the lady driver said that the horses shoe sounded kind of funny and that she had to stop to look at it and we (for insurance reasons) get out while she looked at the horse. We "just happened" to stop by a beautiful city park that has a river and a walkway going through it. I did not really realize where exactly we were. We had our first date there and when we were on our first date there was music playing and we walked up on the music thinking a band was playing in the park and we walked up on a wedding (that part I think is fate) any way back to the story.....we walk a bit down the parkway and he stopped and told me how much he loves me and my boys and would love for me to be his wife. I was speachless (if you knew me that is a miracle) i finally did answer him, OF COURSE!!!
the best part of this proposal.....he had the whole thing planned, the dinner, the carraige ride and the driver stopping by the river parkway so he could propose where our first date was..........he had this planned for the last nine months.......everyone knew, my boys, even my ex- husband knew before I did.

It was Christmas three years ago, and the whole family was together opening presents, and I got one from him in this huge box. So I was unwrapping it, and laughing at all the paper he had shoved inside. I got down to the middle, and found some bars of soap, and asked him what the hell he was doing, and he told me to keep going. I kept digging, and at the bottom, I found a small box with my name on it. I opened the box, and there was an engagement ring in it.
He got down on one knee and proposed in front of his family, even though I was already crying. This Sunday will be our first anniversary together, and will hopefully be followed by many more.
Congrats!!!!!!!!

This may come as a shock...lol... and its no where near as romantic as yours.. but me and my fiance were sitting there and I asked him...lol! He said yes... and then we both started laughing because we were both shocked that I asked him! My fiance is the shy type... and he never does or says anything until he is absolutely sure that its ok... I mean even to this day after we have slept togather many of times... he is leary on touching me...lol.. cause he wants to make sure that its ok first. I find it an interesting story... But I haven't gotten my ring yet and He is up to something that he is calling a surprise so I think he is planning something special to give me my ring :)

Great Story! Congrats. Here is mine:
Took my gal to San Francisco as a surprise. Immediately off the plane we went to have lunchtime Dim Sum (chinese dumpling) and checked into our Hotel rooms with Heavenly Beds, had a cocktail downstairs, and wisked her off to a dinner cruise on the water, underneath the fireworks for the 4th of July. At sunset I proposed on the top balcony of the boat, to which she said yes. (The ring was in a golden carriage holder, fairy tale-ish). Afterwards we walked down the area of ghiradelli and the wharf, and had a bottle of champagne to end the evening.
The rest of the weekend we spent driving through wine country and shopping in San Fran. It was the best weekend of our lives!

That is sooo cute!!!
Well I just got engaged in May, May 13th to be exact. My fiance and I always go on picnics so I didn't really think anything of it when we went on one on a Saturday. He took me to the botanical gardens and we had a picnic and just laughted and talked.... then when we were about to leave, we walked pass this garden with tons of flowers, as we walked in the garden I noticed a chapel (coincidence?) and so we walked down the isle, just joking and singing, "here comes the bride" just completley joking, when we got to the isle there were tons more roses right there so I was looking at them and when I looked at my fiance, he was on one knee with an open box holding my Tiffany's setting diamond solitare. He said tons of stuff, which I can't remember I just started crying when I saw him on his knee, I even forgot to say YES, but my tears said it all.....so I was so excited and he said we should have a drink to celebrate, he took me to the first place we met, which I thought was cute, and when we walked in all my family and his was there saying congratulations, he even flew my brother in from out of state. It was PERFECT!!!!

All these stories are so sweet!
I wanted to share mine and i'll make it short.
We went to Las Vegas on a fun, spur of the monent/let's take a short road trip. Just 1 day and 1 night. While we were eating breakfast at our hotel's buffet just before flying home, he suddenly says "let's check out the chapel before we go home". And i'm thinking, "what? why?" and then, a second later, "no, he couldn't possibly..." and i'm sure i'm looking quite in shock at this point. we both say nothing for a minute so i say, "what exactly are you asking?" he grins and says nothing. i'm starting to get nervous and excited all at once but now, he's not saying anything!!!
so i just turn and say " if you're going to ask me something, then ask!" so he turns ands asks, "baby, will you marry me" and i say "yes." we kiss and i ask, "wow, did we just get engaged?" yeah, i was a bit out of it. i eat a bite of egg and he asks "are you okay? you look like you're in shock." omigod, i so was! you see, i never had plans to get married so this was a big surprise. just as much as realizing i really wanted to marry him!
hahaha a wierd and funny proposal.
so much for short.
i guess the start up was passing by the hotel chapel the night before. We entered the wedding gazebo and we both said something and then abruptly stopped. it was so funny b/c it was almost as if we both got suddenly tongue-tied. i asked him later what he was saying and it turns out we were both saying somehting about how we'd like to go in the gazebo and find out what the view was like from the inside looking out. i'm sure if we hadn't clammed up that night, we would have been engaged in that hotel gazebo by the pool.

Mine isn't a trip concept....yet that's how my fiance proposed to me: It became a pleasing day exterior, suited climate. He asked if i needed to choose for a walk. He pronounced his co-worker advised him approximately this place precise up the line the place you ought to ignore the bluffs and there have been diverse bald eagle sightings (I definitely have additionally heard that). I pronounced specific and we've been given waiting. We took a quick hike as much as the precise of the hill and ignored each little thing. It became very enormously. i became status in front of him and he nudged me to coach around. I rotated as he became getting down on his knee and he in basic terms pronounced "Will you marry me?" of direction I pronounced sure! in retrospect, i ought to tell some thing became up. His abdomen have been bothering him ALL week. Our concept became effortless and candy
