Usually calcification means that you have a higher than normal deposit of calcium. This is usually caused by a injury .

Usually the calcium build up is Bursitis. (inflammation of the bursa in the shoulder due to the calcium deposits.) Often the MD will inject cortisone into the joint to help with the inflammation.

You have calcium deposits in the joint. I can't understand why you ask that here. You paid the doctor to tell you that and didn't ask for a more thorough explanation?
