The vestiges of pagan religion in Christian symbology are undeniable. Egyptian sun disks became the halos of Catholic saints. Pictograms of Isis nursing her miraculously conceived son Horus became the blueprint for our modern images of the Virgin Mary nursing Baby Jesus. And virtually all the elements of the Catholic ritual - the miter, the altar, the doxology, and communion, the act of "God-eating" - were taken directly from earlier pagan mystery religions."

"Nothing in Christianity is original. The pre-Christian God Mithras - called the Son of God and the Light of the World - was born on December 25, died, was buried in a rock tomb, and then resurrected in three days. By the way, December 25 is also the birthday or Osiris, Adonis, and Dionysus. The newborn Krishna was presented with gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Even Christianity's weekly holy day was stolen from the pagans."

LinnE, if you check the historical records, the life of Jesus is based on the life of a Jewish Rabbi named Appolonius Of Judea. He was crucified for teaching something other than the "proper" teachings in the synagogue. The sermon on the mount and the wedding feast at Cana were right out of his life.

Recently on the news they have mentioned what has been found under or near the Vatican from previous pagan religions. Is it accurate then to say that the Catholic Church or Vatican has it's foundations on pagan beliefs?(joking) You forget about the so-called fallen and their influence on humanity. These it is said were or still are the Watchers.

Jesus came to earth, born of the virgin, lived a sinless life, gave His life so the world might be saved, and rose from the grave to live again, so that we might have victory over death and hell.

Nobody else has done that!

Sounds pretty original to me!

Considering that there are thousands of pagan "gods" and "goddesses", it isn't all that amazing that some of the thousands of god myths created about some of them bear some coincidental resemblance to reality.
