Check this out. 2 things:
Your body has a natural tempurature time cycle: It is cooler in the morning and heats up during the day, with a slight drop off in the afternoon(thats why you get drowsy after lunch)
Your sleep has a cycle to, from light REM sleep to deep sleep. It will cycle about 4-5 times avery night.
---------
Make sure you get a good tempurature difference by going out in the sun for a few minutes daily, as well as getting regular exercise. This helps raise your temp so that when you go to sleep, the temp drop is greater, helping you fall asleep. Also, your body naturally produces melatonin from being exposed to the sun. This controls mood. Thats why emo kids are sad; they stay inside with only a computer screen on. They are also sad because animals and plants had to die for their grilled McChicken.
Also time your sleeping and waking times with the light levels of sleep. If you wake up to an alarm clock and youre a zombie, you are waking up during your deep sleep.

No, I sleep fine, why?
Okay, assuming that you are having trouble sleeping, and that you are looking for help, here are some things to try:
*Go to bed at the same time every night. Get up at the same time every morning.
*Use your bed for sleeping and sex (if that's an option). Don't read, eat or do other things in your bed.
*If you exercise, don't exercise for 3 - 4 hours before bed.
*No caffeine for at least 6 hours before bed. 12 if you're a female on birth control pills.
*No alcohol or smoking at least 4 hours before bed.
*Keep your bedroom slightly cooler than the rest of your house.
*If you are having trouble falling asleep, try taking 1 or 2 Benedryl (diphenhydramine hydrochloride) capsules a half-hour before bed. Don't do this every night, or for an extended period of time, but it can help you get into a pattern of sleeping at a set time. Nytol, Sominex, and all those other "sleep aids" are just generic benedryl.
*If you prefer a more natural route, try one of the many sleep aids available from your local health food store. Look for the following ingredients: valerian, kava kava, passionflower, hops, and/or lady slipper. Some people swear by melatonin, but I haven't tried it. That whole "hormone" thing weirds me out.
If you continue to have problems, visit your doctor and get tested for sleep apnea.
Good luck!

Yes, I've been that way my whole life and expect I will forever. I do not want to go to sleep and when I do it's very light and a wake up about once an hour. If you are having problems I'm with you. I'm not giving you advice because you don't take diet advice from a fat man.

Insomnia (sleeplessness) is due to stress, dietary and medical
problems. By making small lifestyle changes like having a fixed
daily routine, relaxing and eating properly, insomnia can be
cured. I found the information at http://tinyurl.com/jfzpz useful
for getting sleep.

use these supplements
melatonin
black cohosh
take 1/2 a tea spoon of sodium bicarbonate and mix it with 1/2 a cup of warm water
try counting from 100 to 0 , kinda like counting sheep but in reverse because it lets you detach more effectively
if there are lingering thoughts write them down to get rid of them then do the count.
