I have a Birman and he's quite vocal (I've had him for 10 yrs so I'm used to it). A friend has 2 Birmans and they are just as bad! What's up with Birmans? They're beautiful but sometimes I cannot take their bossy meowing!

Mine meows his head off too, but only when he wants me to do something like feed him or chase him. It's their way of communicating, and they can't help the way their "voice" sounds ... it's the Siamese in them!

Hi there...many asian breed of cats are very vocal (e.g. Siamese, Abyssinian, etc), however usually Birmans are the exception to the rule at times. Perhaps some have a different breed background contributing to this.

Birmans are gorgeous cats, and their breed profile often describes them as quiet, maybe yours just like a lot of attention!

do you mean Burmese cats? i'm not sure about the spelling or if it is the same cat i think you're talking about. if it's a Burmese, or any relation, they are related as well to Siamese, who are also VERY VOCAL. the reason, who knows? but it's for sure that it is a trait of those kinds of cats and i agree it can wear on you from time to time!

yeah some types of cats crave attention..that's just their way of getting yours...at least your cat doesn't wake you up in the night demanding to be fed

Those meows mean "play with me! play with me! Pet me! Pet me!!"

I suggest that you pull up this website on your computer for your cats to watch ... http://www.cattv.com/catwebsite.htm (It is the very first website for kitty cats!)
