why do you think you were chosen to be here on earth? (or don't you think you were chosen?) Do you raise your children as Atheists, or do you let them chose for themselves?
Seriously, not bashing, just wondered.

Bikernuj...I really wasn't bashing, just a poor choice of words. Sorry.

Atheisteyecandy...Sorry to dissappoint you, but my boys all decided on their own. As a matter of fact, they were Baptised before I was.

Well I don't think I was *chosen.* As with everyone else, I was born. My being here is just happenstance. I'm raising my kids to have patience, tolerance, open minds and to seek their own truths. They are aware of many different religions, have friends from all walks of life, and have been a part of many different religious observations. Whatever they choose, I back them completely.

I wasn't "chosen" to be here. I am the person that resulted from the child my mother gave birth to.
If and when i have children, i shall raise them as atheists.
Whether or not to "give them a choice" is an irrelevent question. They have the ability to choose what they want to believe, regardless of how i feel about it, as is the case with all children of all parents of all religions. They can, and will, make their own choices. It's not my option.
I would, however, consider myself a failure as a parent if they ended up with supernatural beliefs.

Chosen by whom? I mean seriously, I don't believe in any god at all, who is choosing? I'm not bashing, I'm serious, think about it.
I would raise my children to do as they wished and would love them no matter what. But there would be a TON of influence on the atheist side.

I don't think I was chosen. I don't have children, but I would tell them what I think is the truth. Still they would certainly get to know about religion and if it convinced them, then well, it would be their choice. I don't believe that parents can rule over their children's believes. Of course they influence them, but children also get information from outside their home, esp. when they become elder and it makes no sense if parents think they could compel their kids to agree with them on all things.

You may not be bashing, but you are still trying to apply Christian values to non-Christians with your question by assuming that everyone believes we are "chosen" to be here.
I do not have children yet, but I will tell them everything I can about ALL religions, even the possibility of not having one, and allow them to make their own informed choices.
Even if they choose to become religious, it would be a consicious decision on their part rather than believing simply because they were told to.

We're here because we're here. We don't spend time thinking about that; we spend time living our lives and trying to be the best human beings we can be, even if there's no reward in the afterlife waiting for us.
And I don't have kids, but when I do, I'll let them decide what they want to believe. I'm very happy that my parents never told me at a young age what religion is "correct," and I would never think about doing the same to my kids. I believe religion is a matter of personal choice, so it's up to them.

I don't have children yet but I plan to let them decide when they are old enough. Of course they, being raised without a religion, will most likely just come to believe in facts and science.

i don't believe i was chosen because there is no one to choose to put me here other then my parents chose to have a child. i educate my children to make informed logical decisions. if they choose to believe in a god or gods that is there choice.
