Because the THEORY of evolution contradicts the belief in a creator and so those who know there's a God want to challenge their view.

Yes that would make much more sense, since evolution is a matter of biology, not theology. However, some religious groups have self-interpreted the Bible in ways which make it appear to contradict natural truth as revealed by science. Since they consider their personal guesses about the meaning of bible passages infallible, that leaves them in the unpleasant position of having to demonstrate that science is wrong, in spite of the overwhelming evidence in support of such scientific findings. No genuine truth can contradict any other genuine truth. Since biological evolution is obviously a fact, their personal biblical interpretations are obviously erroneous. But they will fight tooth and nail to try to avoid that inescapable reality. It's sad really, considering that many devout Christians find perfect harmony between biblical truth and scientific truth.

Because most "creationists" ask those questions with the intention of proving that there really is a Creator (God). Therefore, it would fall under the Religion and Spirituality catergory.

Oh they ask the same questions (the exact same why are there still monkeys type) there, and in the Anthropology section too. They just don't get as many to agree with them in those areas.

Very good question, if they were really interested in a serious explanation they would ask it there. Obviously this is not what they are looking for, instead they just want to quarrel about it.

Nope, this is the hot spot for evolutionary debate. Don't know why, both sides don't seem to want to sway. But hey, let's all agree to disagree.
