Take him off of it cold-turkey. He's a toddler now and needs to use a sippy cup. Give him a sippy cup and if he doesn't use it then fine--he'll use it when he realizes how hungry he is.

Is he thirsty during the day? If he is drinking excessively then it might be worth taking him to the doctor's to check there is nothing medically wrong.
If he is fine, he is far too old to be having milk at night - he should be sleeping for 11 - 12 hours at a time and eating three proper meals a day. No wonder you can't get him to eat during the day if he is full up at night time and you must be exhausted, you poor thing!
You could try diluting his milk at night to start with, reducing the amount of milk every night until he is just drinking water and also being firm with him when he wakes up. Give him a cuddle, no eye contact and then tuck him him and leave the room. This is tough if he cries but if you are firm and persevere, he will learn that he can't get your attention.
Also, you need to fill him up at teatime so that he won't be hungry at night and wake up. Make sure he only has water or well diluted juice between lunchtime and teatime and no drinks an hour before tea. He should be a bit hungrier then and eat more so you will be OK about not giving him milk at night.
Good luck.

My son was 2 years old before he was completely off the bottle. What worked for me was a combination of throwing the bottles away and Gerber makes a transition "sippy" cup, it looks just like a bottle. My son took to it really well. I found the cup at Walmart.

if you can stand it...start off by giving him one before bed and then dont give him another even if he cries(sounds so insensitive but itll work) I made the mistake of replacing the bottle with the sippy cup and he was still waking up for the cup. Pediactrician said it is best to go cold turkey and sweat it out.. if u are consistent ,after a few days baby will be okay and will probably sleep thru the nite

Have you talked to your Dr about it? At 1 year and 1 month old being on the bottle isn't gonna hurt your son, try offering him a sippy cup throughout the day and eventually he is gonna take it, esp. if he's hungary and doesn't see a bottle in sight. Good luck!

Show him how much fun using a sippy cup can be, also try having him use a straw. My cousin was 4 before he stopped getting a bottle, so don't worry!!! Just try the straw.

throw all the bottles you have in the garbage and dont look back, buy new sippy cups, and it will only take a couple days for the child to forget about the bottle

I had a hard time getting my lil girl away from the bottle. I bought sippies that had a soft bottle nipple. And after a few days, I switched the soft bottle nipple with a soft sippie top. She adjusted with hardly any fuss at all finally. Kinda just snuck it in on her. :)
She was 2.

that is a little to much to be having at night! but then again he is still alittle young. the only way to do it, is cold turkey. you may have a couple bad days, be prepared . give him a sippie cup. once you get over the first few days you will be glad you did it,. hope you have a lot of patience. good idea, do it over the weekend.
