It is never too late to start bodybuilding. This is a very good form of exercise and can be a welcome edition to any healthy
lifestyle. I am not a "body builder" per se but I do weight training several times a week just using dumbbells. There are many exercises you can do with just hand weights which will both tone
and add muscle mass. I highly recommend starting with this kind of training for a few weeks before getting into a full scale weight training program. After this kind of preparation you will be less likely to sustain injury and will be more likely to stick with it.
Good luck with it. It really is never too late to start.

First of all it is never too late to start working out and building your body. If you over the age of 30 as I am you just have to ease into a bit more and rest more inbetween workouts. The optimum protein you would need is approx. 1 gram of protein for every pound of lean body matter. So say you weight 200lbs but you have 20% body fat. 20% of 200 is 40lbs. Take that 40lbs of body fat and subtract it from your original body weight. That would make you about 160lbs of lean body tissue. So you would need approx. 160 grams of protein. Any more protein than that is just a waste because your body can't assimilate it. It just passes through your system unused. I hope this helps you. You don't need to over do it with the protein because, like I said your body can't assimilate it. Get plenty of rest inbetween workouts and try to do a different set of muscle groups each day. Don't do the same muscle groups everyday. One day do chest, another day do legs, another day do back and biceps, another day to shoulders and triceps so on and so forth. I hope this helps you. Good luck and start slow and do weights that you can lift 6 to 8 times. Take care.

Never too late. You will need to consume 20 *(your weight) in total calories for maximum muscle gain. example. 200lbs = 4000 calories a day. 1.5grams per pound of body weight for protein = 300grams/1200 calories. 30% of calories from fat = 1200 calories and the rest carbs =4000-1200-1200 = 1600 or 400 grams

Your muscles respond to weight training at any and all ages, so it's never too late. Muscles are always muscles so they'll always respond, cool huh!
Type into your search engine "protein-how much do I need" and you'll find out all you need to know. You'll find out that you are most likely getting enough thru the foods you eat now, we in this country, get too much -that's a fact.
