Lean Proteins:
Salmon
Albacore Tuna
Omega-3 eggs (also a dairy)

Fruits and Veggies:
Red Bell Peppers
Kiwi
Strawberries
Cantaloupe
Grapes
Oranges

Beverage:
Green Tea (straight and brewed in a cup - not purchased as a drink off the shelf)

Dairy:
Low-Fat Yogurt

Legumes:
Almonds (one tablespoon a day)
Lentils

The lean proteins contain a high level of omega-3 fatty acids which aid in losing weight. Lean protein makes you feel fuller longer and should be the cornerstone of each meal you eat.

The fruits and veggies listed have a high concentration of Vitamin C which aids in losing weight (with the exception of grapes which make you feel full without adding too many calories or fat grams to your diet). Studies have shown that those who have a high concentration of Vitamin C in their blood stream tend to weigh less. Once I started eating those fruits and veggies every day, I lost 16 pounds in 2-3 months without doing anything else to lose weight.

Having a daily breakfast, which should include a lean protein, jumpstarts your metabolism for the rest of the day. Also, if you take a multivitamin, try not to have any tea within 90 minutes of taking your multivitamin. Tea interferes with your vitamin's absorption.

~ oats - as long as it not quick oats, this is healthy. Steel cut is one of the best! ~ pasta - ok, but usually made with refined flour. Foods like rice would be a better option ~ potatoes - great! Considered a carb though, so as long as they aren't with every meal, they are healthy. Eat them with the skins, since that's where most of the nutrients are. ~ salads - excellent! substitute pale lettuce for something darker like spinach though. The brighter the colours, the healthier it will be ~ protein shakes - not so great. These are usually high in sugar, and protein will promote weight gain, not loss ~ bananas - very healthy. Experiement with different types of fruits for variety (the spice of life!) ~ chicken - good source of protein, just make sure you cook it without oils and don't eat the skin ~ bread - ok in moderation but try for more whole grains, like your oats and rice. Breads usually are made with refined flours (even if they say whole grain) which has no nutritional value, and is more of a filler than anything. Too much can also cause you to gain weight If you are serious about losing weight, good diet is a great first step, but only half of the equation. Don't forget about exercising :)

Dear Lovely,

First, is it necessary for you to loose weight? Check the Body Mass Index. Second, the ultimate secret in loosing weight is learning to love healthy foods like fresh (organic) vegetables, fruit, nuts, dried fruits, whole-meal bread, fresh fish, green tea, water,etc.. Avoid processed foods as much as possible (contain sugar, unhealthy fats etc..), anything deep fried, any junkfood, softdrinks. Learning to love healthy food means re-educating your body and brain as it may be addicted to high levels of fat and sugar. This means some self discipline. Third, get more exercise and learn to love it; it can be just simple things like walking, taking stairs, cycling...
Fourth, don't forget to enjoy delicious food like dark chocolate or a good pie, but be aware of overindulgence. Eat it when there's a good reason for a celebration.
Fifth, any promised quick fix is a lie to get your bucks! Without self-discipline (and active support from those around you) failure is unavoidable.

Believe it or not apples and bananas (too much of each or either) are fattening. The natural sugars in them will add up! Sucks, huh? The best thing I found is drinking 8 oz of water before a meal and after a meal. It makes you full and cleans out your system. As far as foods - stay away and FAR away from pasta and fried foods as much as possible. Broiled or baked meats are the best!! Good luck!!

fruits, vegetables, not too many carbs, but some (like rice) stay away from fatty foods, and try to change to a more fiberful diet. Get whole wheat and whole grain breads instead of white. Stuff like that. Good luck
