You take it to the vet and find out why it's having chronic diarrhea.
Possibilities- allergies to ingredients in diet, IBS, malabsorbiton syndromes, parasites....(worms, giardia, and so on)
Each has a different treatment.

First stop feeding it for a day; this gives its bowels a chance to "calm down". Then take a sample of its poop to the vet to see what's causing the diarrhea -- it could be worms, it could be diet, or it could be some other parasite like coccidia or giardia. You need the vet to determine what the cause of the problem is before you can treat it.

DO NOT give the cat over-the-counter medications like Pepto-Bismol or Kaopectate. They've recently changed their formulas, and can be deadly to your cat.

Take him to the vet. Many things could be causing this problem from parasites to viruses. Some animals have bad reactions to food or fleas. A simple fecal analysis can rule out a lot of things, and parasites will show up. The vet can deworm, vaccinate and exam him all at once.

I will assume you have had the cat checked out by your vet, right? Who has checked for worms or parasites? If so....

Change its cat food ... probably a food allergy. Give your kitty Science DIet Sensitive Stomach ... an no other cat food or people food.

You can buy it at Petco or PetSmart.

(We have a cat who had the same problem.)

One of my cats had this problem and she was dx'd with food allergies, and ultimately colitis. She ate a special diet- canned and dry food (Hills C/D, sold only at the vets office), and except for occassional flare ups was okay. A little pepto bismol on occassion stoped the worst of it.

change its diet and don't give it any milk. Milk is bad for cats and can cause bad diarrhea. If this doesn't help see a vet.
