Okay, so do your kids ever drive you nuts? Because I love my three-year-old son to distraction, but he is wild about drumming. I cannot stress enough how often he drums--he is constantly drumming. Someone could give him some kind of toy (not a drum) and he will figure out how to make it either a drum or drumsticks within five minutes, seriously! His father & I have given him a pretty nice drumset that we found for cheap, but we don't let him drum all the time because it gets to be too much. But even when he's not doing that, he wants to be drumming at the table, on us, on his brother, etc...So what should I do? Give in and let him drum all the time or try to limit it? Also, is it bad to expose him to "punk rock" at this age? My husband really likes Christian punk rock (bands like MXPX who don't have bad lyrics) and lets my son listen all the time. He has even gone to a few concerts with him. Now he talks about "being punk". Is this bad for a three-year old? Am I too worried?

Dont worry. He has found his calling at a young age.He just may grow up to be the best drummer ever.Let him drum!!If it drives you bonkers,,tell him that you need quiet time sometimes or go out to get a break, lol. And no drumming on the siblings or at the table.Tell him if he wants to drum on the set that that is the only place he is allowed to do that.Good luck.

Make a no drumming in the _____ room rule....whatever room you don't want him to drum in. Then let his music soul soar. It's not bad for any age child to be exposed to all types of music. In fact studies show that it helps your child's IQ in the long run. Let you child love what he loves. But if it really drives you batty, maybe have a no drumming time of day. From 7-9 he can't drum. That should give your ears some time to recover! Good luck with your little rock start

Ok all three year olds are into something believe it or not most phases they go through easily pass but you just may have the next big drummer drumming away as your head. My advice would be since it is a loud and annoying habit I would try to help him find other things he may like to do. Paint, playdo, building, maybe even buy a model car-plane for him to create since he likes using his hands. I do not think that punk rock is anything bad for him to listen too but beware there are mothers that will fuss about that. I wish you luck and hopefully he won;t drive you insane.

You are the parent. He needs to have a 'drum time' and when his time is over....it needs to be over. You make the rules and you make him follow them. He needs to understand that not everyone like to listen to his drumming all the time. And, that mommy and daddy need some quiet time. I'm sure your son needs some quiet time also, even though he doesn't know it yet!

don't worry! if he's interested in any kind of music, then nurture that, and someday he could be a very talented musician. in the meantime, you should probably get some earplugs.

Sounds like we have our future rock-god :-)

Let him express himself, it's good for him.

Feed into it. Let him be. You might not regret it.
