Like the other person said. Civil is definately the lowest around 30-45k depending on where and who you work for. There are alot of jobs through the state and local governments for Civil Engineers. They usually design roads and bridges. My friend worked for the DOT for the state of Montana as a civil engineer. He had some bridges assigned to him that he was in charge of redesigning. Sounds kinda boring to me. I would look at other Engineering degrees. Right now the Petroleum industry is booming with a Mechanical , Chemical, or Petroleum degree you can get one of those jobs. I am a Pet engineer, my second year out of school I made 74k.
-Good luck

For a good company, at least $40-50, and while it is true that they make a little less than other engineers out of college they make up for it quickly. After 4 years, when you get your PE, you should be up around $60-70, and $90 after about 15+ years. This will vary by 5-10% depending on where you are and whether you are working for a public or private organization.

Civil Engineers make less on average then any other kind of engineers. This is because there are civil engineers who work is rural areas, where as mechanical, electrical, chemical, etc, usually work in more populated areas, where the industry is present. So their salary reflects the higher cost of living. The expected range would be about 35-45K. The higher end would be the jobs within urban areas with higher cost of living.

Unfortunately Civil Engineers are some of the lowest paid engineers directly out of college (along with Industrial Engineers). That said, they can make anywhere between $35k and $45k.

it depends on where you go to work.... $30,000 sounds reasonable for right out of college...but if you work for a private company - could be more. Both my parents are civil engineers for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. My dad is 3 steps below the President Bush and tells me that your school and gpa make definately make a difference, so make sure that those are up. If not make sure that you have some kind of experience (i.e. internships, research, etc.)

You'll get a big boost when you become a PE. Structural civils do a little better than the dirt moving variety.
