Can someone help me understand the differences between Parsi and Muslim? Is there a difference? I happen to be working on an analytical paper regarding a dervish who associates himself with the Parsis--but then, it seems to me that a dervish is a Muslim. It would be really great if anyone can clear this up for me! And sources are always good. Thanks!

PARSI (contrary to several posts above me) is separate from Farsi. Farsi is the Persian language (now modern day Iran.
The Parsi religion comes from Persia (also Iran) and was founded a long long time ago by Zoroaster. He established a belief in Ahura- mazda as teh great supreme and only god. Consequently, there was a struggle of good and evil (the devil, forgot his name). Zoroastrians belived in a day of judgement where all evil people were to burn and the good awared by Ahura-mazda.
The Zonoastrian religion is now called Parsi and only a handful remain.

My Dear, I can understand your query. I will try to brief you in short. Iranians old religion is Zarathustism (Zoroastrian hijacked the real Islam, by way of Arabi to Farsi Translation, Interpretation (in the light of their religious book "Avesta") you must see it. After the conquest of Iran. the Iranians by authority and power accepted the Islam, but they did not left their Pars-ism. Now a days, everywhere in the world spread the so called Muslims (Parsi Muslims) but they dont know about it that in the history Iranians changed and transposed the Islam. They created Hadees (self-created verses) I mean after the Quran, they created so called books in the name of Islam, like Sahi Bukhari, Sahi Muslim, and etc etc. If you want to ask any question, so do not hesitate. Persian means somebody from Iran. (also Parsi)
Farsi is the official language of Iran.
"Persian" indicates nationality, "Muslim" indicates a follower of Islam.
A Muslim can be of any nation, India, Pakistan, Iran, Iraq, Bangladesh, USA, UK, Qatar, Saudi Arabia etc. Persian indicates nationality of someone who comes from Iran.

i think i know what u say ...it s completly irreleavant,
"parsi" or farsi is someone from Persia...what is called Iran ,now!
i think u KNOw what muslim is ..it s abt religion !
ps:checked t in Wekipidia too, i guess it is not exact idea ..of parsi-
i d rather say :someone from persia " or persian !

Its farsi not parsi and its a language. muslims are followers of islam
