I think everyone should be proud of who they are and It shouldn't be a problem, Good thing we live in America where we can say I'm proud to be white or I'm proud to be black or Latino and If anyone has a problem with you saying it they can think what they want they have the freedom to do so and we have the freedom to tell them to get lost lol Lets all be proud to be who we are and try to get along =) i know that probably doesn't answer your question and i know exactly what you mean Racist issues is a real big deal and its not going away anytime soon i actually think its getting worse. Might I add that people shouldn't be treated badly for things people did many years ago that has nothing to do with them!

This is called a simple double standard. There is a channel called Black Entertainment Television (BET) that is all about "black culture" (whatever that is). Can you imagine how people would flip out if someone came up with a channel called White Entertainment Television and featured "white culture"? Heres another question that makes you hate society. Why do we have special months for specials groups? Why is there a black history month but no arab history month? We have women's rights month, how about jewish rights month? or how about something that actually catered to the MAJORITY of the population like White Pride Month? oh the horror. It is ok to have brown pride or ***** pride, but dont dare ever say: "I am white and proud."

Thank the Nazis. They turned pride in one's heritage to racism. I saw a story on the news where a group of people were trying to start a white pride heritage club or something like that. They weren't excluding anyone and they made it clear that all ages, races, and gender was welcome. Everyone was calling them racists! I don't understand why every other ethic group can have clubs and groups dedicated to them but when whites do it it's racist. In a country where whites are fast becoming a minority, I think it's time white people start taking pride in their heritage without the fear of being called a racist, just like any other ethnic group. My family's heritage is European and Scandinavian, and I am very proud of it!

Hmm..good point. Methinks it has something to do with the majority of white individuals in the U.S. Not to be racist, but I guess it would be kinda like bragging that since it already has been proven that their are more people of white background than any other race in the United States. Everyone in this country has been taught and knows this from childhood to adulthood. I guess maybe it would be more proper to say, "I'm proud to be Canadian" or "I'm proud to be Irish", and so on and so forth. Gotta dig into your family tree, though.

Because to be proud to be "white" is only being proud of your skin color, that is it. When people say they are proud of their race they, for the most part, refer to their country of origin. So if you were to say: proud to be Irish, or American or Swedish, people woudn't get upset. That is most likely what you mean anyway. The history of this country was wrought with animosity solely because of skin color. Everyone just needs to be a little more sensitive.

It's a double standard - wrong as it is, but it still happens.
People over use the "raciest" term too much - it's true meaning has been seriously clouded.

We can! I am Swedish and German, very fair skinned and very proud of it. I also will say that anywhere, any time. If someone has a problem with that, it's their problem, not mine. And I let them know that.
My question to you is - why don't you say it, too? You have the right to be proud of who you are just as much as anyone else does. Call 'em on it if they hassle you!

It is because whites did so many crimes because they thought being white would make them superior: Colonialism, slavery, segregation.... so when they say now they are proud on their race it reminds to these days and crimes.
When blacks they are proud on their race they rather say this in protest to the fact that whites regarded them as inferior for centuries.
I don't mean to say that whites should be ashamed to be white because of the history.
I don't know why I got this thumb down, I just gave the answer to that question, or do you think the reason is something else? I don't assume that all the whites who want to say they are proud on their race are racists but I just said the association is there because of history.

You are absolutely right. Blacks continue to seek supremacy instead of equality. They continue to preach that whites are racist but they are the ones that continue to do things that separate the blacks as a race. And as whites, we're letting them. It's time to stand up as a race and say preference is not a prejudice, it is a right.
