Not a great deal, but it showed the world the true face of the roman catholic church.
The biggest tragedy of the Inquisition's actions was the annihilation of the Cathars. And the Church to this date oppresses the truth about them. How many people as much as heard of them, yet they were the most democratic and the most advanced civilisation in Europe.
To read about the Cathars, click on "What is Spirituality" and "Rational Spirituality" on the Dhaxem website.

Which inquisition, Catholic or Protestant?
To the silly person who said witches are more careful now, well, there were no witches persecuted. It was all Christians and Jews who died. If you look at a map of where the "burning times" happened, you will find they are all dates and places of "reformation." Protestants slaughtering Catholics. Martin Luther slaughtering Jews who refused to become Christian. Elizabeth I calling priests "conjurers" and advocating their being hung and disembowled.
There is a lot of misunderstanding about the Catholic inquisition. And total denial of the Protestant one.
No good ever comes of killing others. No good ever comes of persecuting another for their faith. Wish the folks on these boards could figure that out.

The good that came from the Inquisition is the people imposing it died off, and eventually the whole movement lost its steam, and it whithered away - like the flower of the field that fades away and the grass that whithers.

Apparently it got rid of all those evil witches etc. I'm surprised that an actual Christian hasn't mentioned this because the logic involved would be just as stupid as their logic for their 'scriptures' as they are wont to say....Do you notice many witches around these days...I mean real, evil witches not these wannabees on here? Well. there you go, it must have worked.

It was just one of many Catholic and Protestant atrocities in the history of Christianity. The sad thing it could happen today in this country if people don't learn to think for themselves.
