Hospital Emergency Rooms by law can't turn anyone away.
Private practice can demand insurance or cash for payment of treatment.
The illegal aliens go to Emergency rooms for everything even if there kid has a sniffle or to deliver their babies. They know they can thumb their nose at the bill.
The Americans in the community of the Hospitals have to absorb the bills and have more Anchor babies to support on welfare!

Most doctors will not accept you without insurance. Illegal immigrants are not elidgeable for medical insurance since they run your SSN. So yes, an ER cannot turn you away, but a PCP (regular doctor) can. The ER will set up payments for the Illegal immigrant to pay monthly. It will of course be a high bill since they cant get insurance.

i'm surprised at each and every of the understand-nothings who suggested they get unfastened scientific therapy. You human beings pay attention to too plenty Rush. As yet another poster suggested, they get a bill like each and every physique else that doesn't have insurance. so as to qualify for "unfastened" (there's a deductible) scientific care, that they had could join for Medicaid, which is composed of long paperwork and (confident) citizenship/qualifying immigration status assessments, so very almost NONE sign in for Medicaid (or the equivalent state classes). maximum pay funds instantaneous, opposite to what some posters have claimed. people who can no longer or won't frequently do by no ability pay, era, and the scientific institution tries to gather -- yet that may no longer unique to unlawful immigrants, properly over a million/2 of all uninsured criminal electorate/immigrants who get scientific care by no ability pay. that's the reason hospitals are having a tricky time.

Hospitals -- especially public hospitals -- generally must treat emergency room cases regardless of ability to pay.
No doctor is required to treat anybody unless s/he is assured of payment.
Workers compensation and other insurance cases (including auto accident cases) are commonly accepted -- indeed sought -- because there is an obvioius payer. The legality of the patient's status in the USA is obviously irrelevant.
Few undocumented aliens will have Medicare or Medicaid, but some might. For example: a person might previously have worked legally in the USA for ten years and qualified for Medicare. Or a person, himself illegal, might have a US citizen spouse and therefore have derivative coverage.
Many foreign tourists have travel insurance (as they are advised to do by travel agents and airlines). Whether they overstay their visa or not, the insurance remains valid so long as it is paid for.

The illegal alien can always PAY for the service at a doctor's office, as do the rest of us. Of course, we would have paid at the hospital, too.

People without money have a medical card. So only middle class pays Dr. Bills. Rich people have insurance.

The ER around here will not treat you if your condition is not life threatening and you have an outstanding account with them. If you pay your bills, though, regardless of your immigration status the ER will treat you.
