I am a 25 yr old woman and I recently started taking Adderall XR 10mg in the morning to treat my ADHD, at the recommendation of my doctor.

I have noticed that about 30mins-1hour after taking it I feel very euphoric for about an hour, and then I get very thirsty and jittery. As the day goes on I get more and more irritable, and my stomach hurts (even though I make a point to eat regular meals). By the time I get off work I feel weak and irritable, and I have noticed that I have pretty bad mood swings. Not so much that I lash out at anyone, but I get upset easily. Also I have noticed that I feel anxious and nervous even though there's nothing to be worried about. It is helping me focus, but I am concerned that these are side effects that will continue.

Do these tend to subside after your body has a chance to adjust to the drug?

I take 60 mg of adderall, not the xr, first thing in the morn. The first 2 days I had trouble sleeping but that got better . I also shared your other symptoms. I am now past 2 weeks and although all except the sleeping symptoms are much better, they are still present. I sleep fine !! Is the Adderall working for you ? I am not sure if I see any positive effects yet. I think the only difference between the is that the XR is time released to stay longer. I have been on both in the past. I do remember sleeping problems then that were weird. I slept but I didn't seem to fall into the deep sleep (REM ? ). That might be why you tire. You think you are sleeping but actually not getting enough

No way is that at all normal. Don't touch it as it obviously doesn't agree with you, and maybe it's an allergic reaction. Hopefully for your sake it is and things will go back to normal without any more complications. I've just got a little information regarding a previous post here so you don't get any misconceptions about other disorders. I'm really sure that this is nothing to do with bipolar. If it was then your emotions would be going crazy so it could never be this charged or depressed nothingness as you decribe it. Someones perceptions can become deluded and even hallucinations can come across with bipolar but this when your emotions feel like they're overloaded.

The symptoms you are experiencing seem typical of a simulant. However, I personally have not taken Aderall (at least for medical reasons) so I can't say whether it's normal or not.

I've found a discussion forum with information submitted by Adderall users and their experiences; I hope this helps.

Yes they will go away. I was diagnosed at age 30 and they had me on 25 mg a day. I had alot of the same symptoms but they did subside.
