Yes this is true. I try to examine just how open minded I am really being regularly.

Absolutely... not to be puts you in a box. A box called control. Organized religion is for those that are very content and happy having others tell them what to do, when to do it, how to do it, and why. I am not opposed to that way of thinking. It is a great foundation for latter growth that will come with time. It gives us a very clear picture of "contrast". I know most of my friends see me a 'open minded' or out of the box...lol. However, open mindedness is the prelude to growth, expansion and total love.

I cannot agree more.

As an Atheist, I consider myself open minded - I can deal with the fact that science uncovers new discoveries, which may cause our current ideaology to shift to a new arena. This is what remaining open minded is all about. However, the majority of religious people look at us as being close minded to the "possibility" of God (not understanding that being open minded to "possibilities" is a much further stretch than simply being open minded to new developments.)

Likewise, a religious person may consider themselves to be open minded, as they were able to accept the philosophy that God exists... However, I would say that they are close minded to facts of nature and science around them, such as evolution, etc.

I think that I am very open minded. I am a Christian and follow the ways of Christ he did not judge other people he just loved everyone where they were at and that is what I try to do . Christians that are judgemental are not truely following Christ. Even Ghandi said I would be almost convinced to be a Christian if they were like their Christ. Live and let live.

Yes, it can. I am open minded to ideas that have reasons behind them based on observations of the world. Mere assertions do not hold much weight.

If by open minded you mean:

I can accept a hypothesis, even one I don't agree with, and apply the principles of logic to it to reach a conclusion, even one I don't agree with because I don't agree with the initial hypothesis.

Then yes.

If you mean:

Will you stop believing what you believe in because it's offensive to me or because I think you're a fool.

Then no.

I'm fairly open-minded, and people see me that way too. I'm (as I'm told) more open-minded than most of my friends and family members, and I can befriend anyone form any race, culture, belief, etc.

I don't use that term "open minded" I'd rather use "smart". I see myself as a great person and others too.
