Well, when you say "Christian", are you talking about a member of a recognized Christian organization or someone who sincerely tries to follow the teachings of Christ? And by "Democrat", do you mean a registered member of that specific political party or someone who tries to promote full democratic participation in civil life? And "Liberal", does that mean knee-jerk signers-on to the stereotypical social-freedom, capitalism-regulation agenda, or someone who believes in promoting responsibility among the wealthy and justice for the poor and marginalized?

The CDU is considered to the right of the German political mainstream. Their sister branch in Bavaria, the CSU, is usually seen to be slightly to the left. The largest mainstream 'leftist' party is the SPD. However, the meaning of the word 'liberal' is a little bit confusing. You could describe the CDU/CSU as economically liberal but the SPD as socially liberal.
