No.It does nothing but wash all of the water soluble vitamins and minerals out of your body. You should simply stay well hydrated.Staying well hydrated can actually keep you from retaining water as your body will hold water if there is not enough coming in.There is no way in the world that you need the touted 8 8 ounces a day.

What helps you lose weight is consuming less calories than you burn. This can be determined by calculating your BMR.

Consuming more protein in place of carbohydrates is also beneficial as protein has a better thermic value and is less likely to be converted to fat by insulin.
Dividing your meals into 6-8 per day will also benefit by mitgating insulin activity.Cut your calories and exercise.period.There are no short cuts.If you need to fill yourself up simply eat more fiber. It holds water,is never actually digested and will clear fats and triglycerides from your tract before they can be absorbed.
And yes,the word is lose not loose. You should definitely not load up with water after a meal. This dilutes the enzymes that digest your food.

Just drinking lots of water alone isnt going to make you loose weight (unless you are morbidly obese). You have to eat better and exercise at least a little too. Drinking water helps keep your metabolism going and cleans out your body's toxins. Also drinking a big glass of water before a meal, or when your hungry will help fill you up so you dont take in as many calories.

heres some good websites about it:

Yes it will help tremendously.
1) The signal to your brain for hunger is the same as thirst. Sometimes your not hungry but thirsty. Therefore drinking plenty of water will keep false hunger cravings from occuring
2) being dehydrated will make you tired and unenergized. Added energy will burn more calories!
3) your liver is responsible for metabolizing fat to use. Your kidneys help flush out toxins in your body. Your kidneys need water to function. If they do not receive enough they require assistance from the liver. When the liver has to help out the kidneys it can't burn fat.
4) your body NEEDS water. If you don't drink enough every drop it gets will be considered precious and your body will hold on to it, ie water retention. The more you drink, the more your body will release and not hold on to because it knows more water is just around the bend.

Drinking water keeps you hydrated. When you're dehydrated you can often think that you are hungry when in reality you are just thirsty. Plus drinking water supresses your appetite. So all in all it will help you lose weight if you are watching what you eat as well.

yes and no..,i explain this..
it is not because you drink alot of water you will lose weight,it is mostly because you fill yourself up with water, you will not have so much place left to put something else in it..like food.
so in general you can say that peeps that drink alot of water lose weight.,but that not always true, some body's hold on to water more than other,so its possible that some that drink alot of water,do not lose weight, they fill themselves just up with water.
drinking water has a cleansing abbility,so i guess thats a good thing..
anyway i never heard of someone that was killed of drinking alot of water,so i guess it cant hurt..
