Coming penniless, not knowing the language, having minimal education, working hard to support yourself and your family, working and learning, taking ESL classes whenever you can squeeze them in, saving and planning for when you can be the boss, eventually buying your first home, taking pride in your family and all you have done, becoming the boss of your own little business, sending your children to college, watching your children and grandchildren benefit from all of your hard work and sacrifices.

A dream Americans Dream to achieve in their country. A house, a yard, a family....
Many Americans no longer can afford that, however.
We assume Mexicans have the Mexican Dream, Polish the Polish Dream, etc. The American Dream is not an advertisement to entice immigration.

My American Dream is to have happy healthy children living is a secure country, To have all my children and grandchildren getting the things they want out of life. But my dream may not be your dream. Isn't America great we can all achieve our own dreams and there is no one to say we can't do it.

There is not a single American Dream, there are as many as there are Americans. Having the opportunity to achieve your individual dream is the true American Dream.

An early grave. People tend to greatly stress out their minds and bodies to live up to the expectations of what's considered the, "American Dream". (work very hard to gain money, have a wife/husband and kids before you get too old to have either, be in debt from mortgages and loans to pay for a big house...blah, blah, blah)

Starting out life with nothing. paying your dues, working hard. Not taking handouts. Doing what you need to do without asking others(taxpayers) to help. Finally after working hard enough you have success. Wealth, a family perhaps. But you did it on your own!!
