Hi - it is possible that this is epilepsy - but usually the dog will paddle it's legs during the seizure, may salivate, and may urinate. The eyes will flicker from side to side (occasionally up and down).Although no two seizures are the same for sure! But there are other neurological or neuromuscular problems that could cause these symptoms. You need to keep a diary of how often this happens, does anything trigger it - ie does it happen after exeercise, or thundery weather, loud noises etc; and how long it lasts. How long does it take for your dog to return to normal, is he dazed afterwards? And you do need to take him to your veterinary surgery to have a full blood profile done - to ck liver/kidneys/glucose levels etc etc. Good Luck, I hope he's OK.

I would advise taking your Jack to the vet immediately rather than trying to get a diagnosis over the Internet. Something as serious as this sounds like it is definitely needs to be looked at by a professional. If it was Epilepsy would you also be asking how to treat him for that over the Internet? He could suffer possible head and limb injuries during these episodes not to mention the hundreds of other possible medical problems. How can you continue to watch your dog suffer?

errrr if you want a vet opinion, why the heck are you posting on here??? Why are you leaving a dog with undiagnosed epilepsy? Do you like watching him suffer? Are you happy that he may end up having a brain haemmorhage and becoming spastic like my beautiful collie did earlier this year? I had to have my dog put to sleep because of the epilepsy related brain haemmorhage even though he was heavily medicated for his epilepsy. Don't begger about asking on here, take the dog to a vet.
I would have done ANYTHING to save my best boy and every single day I think of him and wish he was still alive. HE was taken to the vet the very first time he had a fit. You wouldn't catch me farting about asking strangers online if I had a sick pet.I would be on the phone to my vet.

Take it to the vet. They will give your dog medication however usually, the medication will have to be given for the rest of it's life. Getting information from the Internet isn't such a good idea... some people don't know what they're doing,

Vestibular problems, neurological imbalance, TOXICITY would be a good place to start. Take your dog to the vet run a chem 12 work up and check how is body is fuctioning. In the mean time shake down the house, look for chemical, decon, rat poison, illegal drugs, prescription drugs etc...anything he could have gotten into, but go to the vet asap. He could be seizuring and if it is some sort of seizure like activity he might be a canidate for meds like phenobarbitol to control seizures.

Yep,that sounds like siezure activity alright!! Medication can help but NOT "cure". It will need to be meds-probably phenobarb- for the rest of it's life. It'll take awhile to figure out the correct dosage.
Get it to the vet FAST!!! If meds don't help SOON,put it down!!! Do NOT let it suffer.

This is definitely seizures. You need to get to a vet for meds. Also, there are more reasons for seizures than epilepsy. You need to make sure that is what he has.
You also need to know what changes he is going to need in his care so you can manage his condition. This is a chronic problem that you will be dealing with (and paying for) for the rest of his life.
It's not as straight forward as it seems and the drugs he will be taking are dangerous. You need training to care for an epileptic.
See a vet as soon as you can get to one.

You´re right it does sound like epilepsy.... i am a vet but theres no way to give a proper diagnoses without seeing the animal and running tests..... you must bring him to your vet as soon as possible.... theres also a number of other possiblities for these siezures so lets not jump to conclusions.
have a look at this site which describes the symtoms of epilepsy in dogs just to give yourself more information....
http://oror.essortment.com/epilepsydogs_rhac.htm
but i say again.... bring him to your vet immediately.!
best of luck
