More than $1,000,000,000,000 goes to 'transfer payments'. That's the technical term for 'welfare'. It's almost twice what we spend on the military.

Well it seems our taxes are paying for a war at the moment. And apparently its not enough because we are trillions of dollars in debt.

I can only assume since you posted here, you're talking about the sales tax on food. It goes to the state, who doles it out to schools, roads, foundations, etc...
