I think its peer pressure from seeing what celebrities are doing and most guys say they prefer girls with blonde hair. I'm not sure of the reason there are some beautiful women out there with brown, ginger and black hair. We live in a society where we try and make others happy rather than ourselves. We could ask why do some women choose to starve themselves and show off their rib cage? There are so many questions about personal image. Ask every woman there is something about her person that she is not happy with, its not so the same about men although research shows that with all these 'lads mags', the pressure is really mounting for men to have abs and bryl creamed hair etc. I am naturally brunette and thought and unwisely listened to the advice of my partner and dyed my hair some time ago, at the time I though it looked great, I look back at photos now and in reality it looked like it had an orange twang, made me look very pale and at worst my roots were terrible, it was so not worth spending nearly 3 hours and £100 in the hairdressers. Its also not young women that go blonde its oldies too!

I think there will always be a 'blondes are more beautiful' idea and a lot of women want to be part of it! The fashion is constantly changing though - a few months ago all the celebs were going brunette but I think blonde is coming back a little. So in conclusion I blame the men :P
Even the biggest munter woman in the world can look vaguely nice with blonde hair - it's a cheap and easy way of looking attractive I think!

Women are never happy with what they've got - it's a known fact!! If they have blonde hair they wish they were dark, curly hair and they wish they had straight etc etc. We live in a world where it's now possible to change almost everything about ourselves and so it's easy for people to try out new styles, colours and so on. It's all a bit of fun when it comes to hair colour - no harm as long as it's done properly!!

It depends on the "look" you want. In Rennaissance garb, long natural hair looks beautiful. But, if you are going for the 40's Hollywood look, you might like bleached blonde.
Also, some people do it to enhance/cover their grays. Sometimes, lightening/tinting to a "warmer" shade makes the skin look peachier. I agree though, sometimes there's no need to do anything and the blonde looks worse. I've also heard that lightening in general is supposed to "youthen" a person, but I don't knowl. I guess any beauty products/techniques are purely frivolous, but fun if you're into "becoming" different characters or you like to go with moods/life changes for self-entertainment.

I am 38 and white blonde. Blonde suits me as I am very pale skin, my natural colour is pubic brown and I hate it. At my age I do not even have a single gray hair as I let the bleach grow out during the winter and normally go a reddish brown.
I have grey eyes and blonde eyebrows and very pale eyelashes, so blonde suits me as I also have long hair.
Oh and I do not wear make up and I have been with my other half for 4 years.
By they way I am not a bimbo or thick as I am a menber of MENSA.

We live in a world of choice and each person has just that...many choices. I love blonde hair and some women just fancy a change. Whats wrong with people wanting to look good? I think if people want to change there hair then its fine...they are still the same person on the inside.

It is not just blondes - the majority of women colour their hair, whether red brunette or blond.
Why - it looks better than natural, and blond makes the hair thicker.
Why wear make up? Why shave legs? It is all about self confidence - if you feel better about yourself, you come across as more relaxed and confident.

I was blonde for about 3 years, and I'm a natural, dark brunnette. I had enough after going every 6 weeks to get my roots touched up. I was younger, and I didn't admit it then, but it had to do with insecurity.
Some girls do it for attention, wanting to be the hot blonde girl. To my surprise, almost everyone loved when I went back to my natural color.

Well all I can say on this is that my Fiancee goes blond in the summer and dark in the winter as it suits the seasons. Summer means bright and fresh so she goes blond. Whereas when she goes dark in the autumn and winter it makes her blend with the colours of those seasons. I suppose it all comes down to fashion making sure that the hair goes with the seasons colours.

I am 57 yrs old with salt & pepper hair. My daughter told me to chose a color and go with it. I finally decided I wanted to wear my hair white so this lead me to the blonde hair color. After a few treatments my hair looks as if its my natural color. Believe me this was not an easy decision but I get more complements from both men and other women who stop me on the street to give me their opinions and as we know one complement from another women is worth more than 10 from a man.
