I married a widower. I see no reason whatsover why someone should not marry after the death of a spouse--not immediately, certainly, give a year or so at least--but I have never understood why a child or anyone else would deny their parent happiness and companionship in their older years. I was lucky enough (on both sides of the family--his and mine--) to have loving support and encouragement. Even his former in-laws welcomed me--and still do--to the family, and we are still both invited to their gatherings. I know that this isn't always the case. I also know that there are unscrupulous people who seek out widows and widowers to marry for the wrong reasons. But by and large, I think the decision to remarry should be with the person doing the marrying, not with others who want to interfere for their own reasons or interests, or suspicions. I think there should be family support, instead of interference.

Actually, Jesus spoke of this. Essentially, marriages are void in heaven.
Marriage at the Resurrection
23That same day the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to him with a question. 24"Teacher," they said, "Moses told us that if a man dies without having children, his brother must marry the widow and have children for him. 25Now there were seven brothers among us. The first one married and died, and since he had no children, he left his wife to his brother. 26The same thing happened to the second and third brother, right on down to the seventh. 27Finally, the woman died. 28Now then, at the resurrection, whose wife will she be of the seven, since all of them were married to her?"
29Jesus replied, "You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God. 30At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven. 31But about the resurrection of the dead—have you not read what God said to you, 32'I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob'? He is not the God of the dead but of the living."
33When the crowds heard this, they were astonished at his teaching.

If you go to heaven, everyone is comingled. Some religions believe in purgatory which is a temporary place and eventually you still go to heaven. You become a communion of souls, meaning everyone communicates with everyone but it's not like being married married cuz you don't have bodies. If you go to hell then I don't know...........and thankfully, there are no law suits on the other side so you don't "sue." Frankly if you loved both spouses on earth, you will still love them on the other side just as you would your friends who you are not married to.

Jesus addressed a similar question. Evidently there's no sex in heaven, tho we will recognize one another.
A good reason to cultivate the spiritual love between husband and wife, since this is what lasts.

You're thinking too human and earthly. In heaven all souls connect...there's endless room...and endless love. It depends on the form of your religion and which doctrine you go by.
