I'm not convinced you should believe every last thing Iams is claiming, but PETA's the one with the history of being full of sh!t.

"FACT: Posing as an animal lover, an activist "undercover investigator" was hired for an Iams-funded role in the contract facility. She had responsibility for the socialization and enrichment of the dogs participating in Iams' feeding studies, and was paid to develop and implement a program to ensure that these dogs were well cared for. Rather than focusing on her assignment she captured video not of the scenes of the socialization and enrichment activities she was being paid to develop and deliver, but of dogs and cats that were housed in the same facility but not a part of Iams studies."

Iams uses real animal meat in their recipes - not as a cruel thing, but but as a nutrient for cats. Cats are carnivores. In the wild they will chase down other animals and eat them. That's how they get their nutrients and protein. Cat food was developed so the owner didn't vomit every time they had to prepare food for Kitty. Iams isn't horrible - it's a good brand that will keep your cat lean and happy.

But don't be suprised if kitty brings home a "gift" in the form of a dead mouse or bird. They still have that stalk and pounce instinct even when their tummies are full. Cats see the bird or mouse as the ultimate gift to you - a reward of their efforts to "contribute" to the household.

They are just made up stories by animal rights fanatics! Kinda like religious fanatics that protest funerals of fallen soldiers, rather than the war itself. Hey, a lot of us were in the army before the war, it isn't our fault.
