I have a very stressful job. One of the ways that I de-stress is walking in the woods. There is so much to see, my mind does not think of anything but my walk and the things I see around me in the woods. Also, I stay in my office at lunch and I have a program called Paint. I draw all kinds of pictures and my cares leave my mind while I am being creative. One final way I will speak of is petting an animal. I find giving my cat a real good rub down and petting seems to melt my stress away and my cat benefits too! Deep breathing while I am driving helps. Good luck.

Definitely exercise 20-30 minutes most days of the week. Dance, walk, run, bicycle, take a yoga or aerobics class. Just move and feel your power and know that you are doing something good for yourself. Eat right - lots of fruits and veggies & no junk food. Get plenty of sleep - 7-9 hours daily and getting it all at once is better than getting it in stages. Go to the doctor when you think something is wrong Don't take mind altering drugs. Don't cause additional stress by not following through on your values - your values are your anchors - live them and don't disrespect them. Develop and maintain support systems. Find meaning in your work. Schedule time for yourself to do whatever you feel like at the time - perhaps daydream, perhaps write in a journal, perhaps play a computer game, perhaps put a puzzle together. Practice time management - prioritize all of your necessary activities. Have goals and know which are most important to you and follow through on that knowledge. Make time in your day for those things you believe are most important. Learn relaxation techniques. I do mindful breathing - that is where you count to yourself on the inhale and exhale making the exhale longer than the inhale. I count up to 1007 on the inhale and 1010 on the exhale.

Pilates has worked for me. A good workout and stretch clears away all the stress.

I use puzzles books, they help take my mind off stress. Word searches, fill ins, cross words, etc. Give this a try.
