The cheapest time to fly to HI is right at the end of the high season and before the holidays. That's the last week of September to the second week of November. I've flown from LA to Honolulu for $99 each way during those times. It's usually last minute flights but then again, it's hard to pass up a good deal to go to the islands. There are often many flights advertized for $200 -$300 instead of the usual $500 - $750.
Good luck.

Depends on when - Holidays are more. Also, it depends where you are flying from and how much in advance you book. Hawaiian Airlines has a free membership which will actually take about $10 from the round trip airfare. Los Angeles and San Francisco have the cheapest fares from CA to Honolulu.

They cost more during "High Season", namely when everyone would like to be there, like Christmas and New Years, or right after school gets out in June.
