According to the HSLDA website, you have three homeschooling options in Kansas. For a detailed explanation, check out their website. I doubt any of them requires "dropping-out". Usually, you just have to register with either the school district or the state dept. of ed.

I live in kansas. You need to make sure that when you pull your child out of public school, you get a copy of their academic record, so that you will have proof that your child has been in the educational system. Then you need to make sure that your child is homeschool the required numbers of hours to complete a year. Kansas has no requirement on subjects that need to be taught. You also need to register yourself as a private, non-acredited school in order keep yourself from breaking the law. Check out the Home School Legal Defense Association for a better understanding of the law. If you register with them, $100 per child per year, you can call them if anyone tried to get you in trouble with truancy, ect. It is a good investment and well worth the money. Also in kansas, the state doesn't have to give you any material or other resources (books, ect). You will have to come up with the money for that yourself. Good Luck.

I don't live in Kansas but I don't think that you have to drop out of school to be homeschooled. You can sign up your child with a public school homeschool program. I'm signed up with a charter school home school program where it's all homeschool but theres also a few classes you can take. So I be they might have something like that in Kansas.

Know people in Michigian that home schooled some years and returned their child to finish High School. If your talking about getting grant money Kansas may offer, then on paper your child may have to clame one or the other, because don't see state paying twice for same thing.

You don't 'drop out of school' anywhere to be homeschooled. You may need to file a specific registration or notification, but your child doesn't become a 'drop-out.'
