Would it be better to purchase flight tickets early? Or would it be cheaper to purchase the tickets later if we were to leave June 2007?

The earlier you buy tickets the cheaper they are, but usually you can only buy them 3 months in advance

Don't buy your tickets this early unless you want to pay a fortune for your tickets. Also fly out out San Fran. There are more flights and more competition. Buy your tickets after the holidays. But don't wait til the very last min! Hawaii can be very expensive.

Right now is too early to make a difference - the difference would be apparent in January versus April 2007 - the flight could double in that short interval or be unobtainable whatsoever. Best to get as early as possible without jumping the gun and doing it right this moment - earliest would be perhaps November 15th.

Purchase early - typically, if you keep an eye on the fares, you can get yours reduced if fares go down. Also, from San Jose it's more expensive than flying from Oakland or SFO - both Oakland and SFO are within 1 1/2 hours even in commute time.

You did not say specifically when in AUG 2006; however, the least expensive flight BAR NONE is $625 R/T. Because August is right around the corner the airfare rates tend to be higher, as opposed to if you were leaving 60 or more days from now.

it would be cheaper to purchase it earlier and i'd recommend it because that's peak season and hotels will be maxed out during the summer season.

If you buy them now, it will be significantly less than if you do it later. I always buy mine 2 weeks in advance and it is always cheeper, but if you do it now, then it will be even more cheep.
