No! It is intergrated into your Operating system. You don't have to use it as your main Internet browser - just don't try to remove it.

Well unfortunately you cannot uninstall IE from windows anymore. You cannot use it yes, but not uninstall. It is integrated into the windows explorer now. So no, you should not uninstall it.

I would advise against removing the program, but you can remove the shortcut from the desktop and you can customize your start menu to have Firefox (or whatever) as your default browser. Sometimes other programs will use parts of the original, though, and deleting IE could make other parts of Windows inoperable. ♥

I don't think you can. IE is an integrated part of the OS (Windows) that is in the USA. You can use other browser though!!! The European Union is making MS take out IE as an integrated part of the next virsion of Windows. (Vista)

Agreed, Firefox is MUCH better. It's not a bad idea to have more than one internet programs though. I have Firefox and Opera, so if for some reason one isnt working, the other one always is.

Yes, I did.

To get rid of it I reformatted the hard drive and installed Fedora Core 4.

Much safer, much faster, much less prone to annoying lock ups.

Some of the files may be in common with the OS. Just don't use it.

I wouldn't incase you delete files you need to run your pc. Do what I did and install Mozilla Firefox and run that instead.

Leave I.E. where it is and ignore the icon.
