Definitely do a veggie tray (celery, carrots, brocolli, etc) and add different types of dips. You could also do a sweet tray with cookies and brownies. What about mozarella sticks? Or what about baklava? Mini sandwiches are good. Or maybe cheese and crackers. What about cocktail weiners? Nachos are always good. Or maybe chips and salsa. There are many options. Good luck.

For baby showers, I have taken a watermelon and cut the bottom a little to make it sit straight up -Cut the watermelon across lengthwise and stop at the last 4th of it. Cut down and take that part of the melon away - you have a CRADLE shape. Scoop out the rest of the watermelon and save the watermelon insides. I am not good at carving and wanted it fancy so I bought pastel colors of lace and eyelet lace cotton trim. I stuck it in the watermelon with straight pins- layers of the lace pieces trimming the edges of the cradle. It turned out so cute and was a great centerpiece. I put the melon back in cut up in pieces and added other fruits like pineapple, strawberries, orange slices, blueberries.
Around the bottom of the melon I put pastel silk flowers. Everyone seemed to like it.
I spread out some oldish antique looking rattles and small toys. And in the punch bowl you can float rubber ducks - preferably a mama duck and a bunch of smaller ducks. :) It's a lot of fun.
Oh - and you can just throw away the watermelon with all of the lace and trim or pull out the trim to wash and use again.
Good luck and have fun!

Cheese dip was a hit at my baby shower, and it's easy to make. All you need is ground beef or turkey, salsa, a block of velvetta cheese and tortilla chips. Brown the ground beef/turkey then combine with salsa and cheese in crock pot and in 25 minutes it's done. Serve with the tortilla chips.

Oreo Ball Cookies
1 pkg oreos
1 pkg cream cheese
1 pkg almond bark
crush oreos and blend with cream cheese - roll into balls (about quarter round - bite size)
melt almond bark and dip each ball into for coating - place on wax paper on cookie sheet and let cool in fridge
these are so yummy and you could add food coloring to almond bark if you wanted - blue for boy, red for girl - or top with a dap of frosting

A lot of neat ideas here (don't forget the olives!)...
Spread slices of ("Buddig") wafer meat with cream cheese
Place a spear of dill pickle on one edge, and roll up.
