I've programmed my body to want sweets at the end of meals, but I'm trying to lose weight. So I'm looking for some less fattening sweets I can substitute for my normal ones.

A small glass of cranberry juice. Reason: the high acidity of cranberry juice is not only good for naturally whitening your teeth, but it cleanses your palette leaving the desire for sweets behind. And as hard as it is to believe despite the tart flavor of cranberry it is sweet and intense so it leaves you feeling refreshed. At the same time it contains natural sugars that are easy for your body to break down so the calories fly away. Good luck.

Fruit is sweet and gives healthy benefits. An apple, banana, orange, pear, or 1/2 cup of grapes are less than 100 calories. Apples are especially very filling.

Have a roasted small sweet potato (without sugar and butter) for dessert, or a piece of fruit. Yum.

Don't drink diet sodas or use artificial sweeteners because they are extremely sweet and alter your perception of what sweet should taste like. Go with natural sweeteners, like honey. You need to get used to toning down the level of sweetness.

A diet alone will not do the trick. You must also excersize.

Simple, dried fruit, raisins, apples, pears, prunes, mango, apricots, you name a fruit, you could probably find it dried! Eat a handfull of these and you should stop craving the sugar.

Or regular fruit

Or go to the store and you can buy containers to freeze 100% juice in and make icepops

Or eat a LITTLE dark chocolate which is high in antioxidant and has less fat and sugar than milk chocoate

Fruit....grapes and nuts. Or get over yourself. You dont have to have anything after a meal...it is a stand-alone thing after all. Have a cup of coffee (no sugar).

Work on calories....not your appetite or BS cravings.....keep your calories accounted for and ignore the other stuff...cry and think instead. Your body needs energy......the rest is emotional....so put it in its proper place like you would any toddler having a tantrum.

I keep fat free cool whip in my freezer at all times. It's a great substitute for ice cream and it's virtually calorie free! Add some chopped up fruit or even fat free chocolate syrup. Mmmm....
