I am trying to ask out a graduate student from another department. The two depts are very remotely related so interaction between them is totally impossible. The only way I can trace this girl is by meeting her by "accident" around the particular hour in which she goes home. She knows that I exist, but our aquaintance has not gone far beyond names(in 2 or 3 such meetings). I am not sure how long I should play along with running into her; when would it be a good idea to ask her out without causing mutual embarassment. how long should i wait?

Build up a friendly relationship and then ask her out.After 3-4 such meetings just take her cell no. and start calling her. Then it'll be easier for you to ask her out.

ok if i was her i would just want to sit down and talk to you for a little while on a park bench or something like that. then just maybe you might ask her out to a dinner to finsh talking. first you might to find out what she like to do some how. maybe you can talk to some of her friends they might help you, if nothing else happens you will gain a friend at least

u shouldn't worry about 'askin her out' yet. the next step is to ask for her email address or phone number. once u get it you'll find out whether or not she's interested, THEN, ask her out. how long should u wait? you've already waited too long. what are u a wuss??

When the time is right for you to do it you will know.
Exchange numbers and start calling her. Find out the things she likes to do so that you can do it with her when you decide to ask her out.

"run into her" a couple more times then go for it. Obviously if i doesn't turn out the way you want it wont be to hard to avoid her by the sounds of it.
