My Kitten is just now 6 weeks old and I wondered at what age I can start getting him used to a bath. Also, can you clip a cat's nails like you would a dog, and if so, when should I start clipping them and how often?

Definitely get the kitten used to having its nails clipped when he is young. Kittens are quite squirmmy and you may not get all ten of them at one sitting. Just do a few and get back to the rest later. I clipped all my cats nails when they were kittens and they all will sit still now to have a complete "manicure".

Cats don't really need to have baths and if you think you are going to do this start now when he is young.

I have cats 14, 13, 12, and 10 who have never had baths. I have a 22 yr old cat who does not groom herself anymore and she goes for a combout and bath about every month to six weeks. Otherwise she gets to looking rather like a bag lady and I think it is important for her self-esteem to be clean and fresh.

Cats do not really need to be bathed like a dog, they clean themselves. Unless the cat has gotten into something quite messy that it cannot take care of itself...otherwise no bath is needed. You should however get the kitten used to having it's nails trimmed regularly, and it will get more difficult as the kitty gets older. Give special treats as you do it so it is associated with something pleasant. Just make sure not to trim too short, you do not want to cut into the "quick" which is the part of the claw where you see it turns a red color. This is a vein and it will bleed like crazy if you cut this part of the nail.

I started using just warm water baths at 6 weeks due to no momma, and at about 12 weeks for trimming the nails. I know the more often it becomes a routine for them the easier it is to train them to bath and nail trims being part of their routine. Just make sure that the kitten is completely dry and has something to cuddle in to warm back up, or could end up with a sick kitten.

You can bathe a kitten after it turns 12 weeks. As far as clipping the nails, you can do this with regular nail trimmers. my husband clips our cats nails about once a month or when they get pointy again.

it extremely is a ways too youthful. Kittens and maximum cats under widely used homestead circumstances should not extremely prefer a bath. For a kitten this youthful, a bath must be deadly. bypass away it on my own. the mum will provide it all of the grooming it desires.

as far as bathing, they will take care of that themselves and shouldn't really ever need a bath especially if they are indoor cats. I would get your kitten use to you touching his paws to start off with and then slowly introduce the nail clippers and then cut one nail a day for a while till they get use to it and then go from there.

you can also go to a pet store or local wal-mart and get a product called dry-bath for cats that you just rub on them and dry off with a towel much easier than trying to put a cat in water lol
