Until they are 4'9" they should be in a booster seat, and they should be in the back seat of a vehicle until age 12. This website shows what type of child seat your child should be in for their individual age, weight and height.

It's not really what age, but what weight. I think where I live it's like.......50 pounds or under you have to sit in a booster seat.

It's not the age it's the weight. I think they are supposed be at least 65lbs before they can be taken out of the booster seat.

well the specialist say that a child should be in a booster sit until the age of five or sixty pounds and i would have to agree

That depends on where you live and what the law is. In Ontario Canada the child has to be either 4'11" 80 kilos or age 8. which does make sense if you think about it...........

In Canada it is 8 or 80lbs by law, check with your local police dept. to see what the laws you have are. Then if you still feel that your child is to small leave him/her in it longer--it is better to keep them safe than the inconvenience of having to put them in the seat every time you want to go out.
