I usually wake up without a headache. During the day, almost every day, I get a headache around noon guarenteed. It isn't extreme, but it is bothersome. I have glasses (about 2 months old so I know it isn't the prescription). I was wondering if it could by my TMJ? My jaw pops everytime I open my mouth. I am going to a dentist in a few weeks. Over the counter headache stuff helps, but I don't want to take it daily. I also get migraines, but I know that these are not them. I can function with these headaches, but they are so bothersome everyday. Any suggestions?

Actually, it truly could be your glasses. I had the same problem with a pair of glasses which had a perfect prescription (I could see great), but they gave me headaches and vertigo. You should really contact your opthemologist and get a re-test. They won't charge for it if there is a side effect possibility from the glasses they prescribed.

If it isn't that, it may be the TMJ. Although, honestly I really think you should go back to the eye doctor.....that is much more likely to be the issue.

One final thought, there is also something called a "Cluster Headache" - I was diagnosed with these in high school...they are triggered by stress, poor eating habits, you name it. They are not severe enough to be considered Migraines, but they are more bothersome than a regular headache. Advil works well for these kinds of headaches.

Good luck!

You have migraines,so do I. What I did was tell my neurologist about the problem,he put me on Ametriptline for it. It has made a world of difference for me. I also have Epileptic seizures. So I am inclined to get very frequent headaches. There are a lot of things that can cause headaches. Have you kept track of your blood pressure, and blood sugar levels? If not,you might want to start. Some food allergies can cause headaches too. If you don't get help from a regular family practice Dr.try seeing a neurologist, this is their specialty, disorders of the nervous system.

How often do you take something for your headache? You know like tylenol or whatever you take for it.
I had headaches just about everyday for 10 years. I took fioricet and tylenol for it. Ended up I was getting my headaches from the medicine I was taking to get rid of them. I was getting rebound headaches. I stopped taking the meds {drs orders} and after 2 days of extreme pain and some time, I stopped getting daily headaches.
That may not be your problem but it's just a thought.

It could be the TMJ and it could be the glasses. Believe it or not, your eye muscles are adjusting to the new perscription. This can cause the headaches.

i don't generally get headaches from my tmj, but i'm sure it is possible.

when you get these headaches, what were you doing right before and while they started? for me, with tmj, when i'm sitting at the computer, watching tv, playing piano, etc....things where i'm concentrating, i set my jaw differently. that's what causes mine to get aggravated. try to tune in to what you are doing right before and after they start - if it's something involving your jaw, then i would be pretty sure it's the tmj.

good luck.

ps - the best otc med for tmj is aleve.
