I think I may be pregnant (which is a wonderful thing!). When had my first daughter, my company paid 100% maternity leave while I was out (for an entire 12 weeks). But my new company is small and they offer no such leave. I've heard about the family leave act in California, but don't know much about it. Does anyone have any information on this....ie: how much they pay, how long I can take off, etc. Thank you for your input in advance!

Let me add....I currently do not have access to most websites (company blocks 'em), so I cannot look at links. Please advise via details, not a web link. Thank you! :)

It's more so for say the father of a new born so that he can also take maternity leave & help with the baby. One of my freinds husband just went back after the birth of their son & he was intitled to 12 weeks through this "Act" & got same pay. If your company doesn't have mat leave then you can file for disability. It's basically the same thing . You normally get up to 75% of your regular pay but it's been a long time since I've been there so it may have changed. You can ask your employer for information on the "Act" & they have to provide it to you. Just remember it doesn't gaurantee your position upon return to employment. GOOD LUCK...

Have you heard of the family leave act nationally ? Bill Clinton signed it when he was president. They have to give you 6 wks after your baby is born because it is about then that you have your 1 st medical exam . The dr should tell you if it is okay to go back to work. Good Luck and God Bless you. Oh be carefull a friend of mine went and had a baby and they fired her so she is suing now so be carefull please thanks.
