It is very hard to still be friends if you where in love. I have an x well we dated about 6 years ago and we have always kept in touch he now has a daughter and I am now married. I try to keep my distance from him now I am married every time I do run into him or talk to him he always tells me that he loves me and that we will be together some day witch is very hard for me to hear he was my first love I will never forget him but you know it did not work and now I have found someone who is wonderful to me it is not fair for my x to tell me he loves me so it is better when we don't talk!

he doesn't want to be your freind because how akward would that be if you saw him out with someone else? you would have a hard time being a friend to him then wouldn't you? its 100 times worse in guys. we don't want to see our ex-girlfriends out having a good time with anyone else, that sucks! or it could be that HE doesn't want you to be all in his business so he can do what he wants with who he wants and he'll have no one to answer to. he'll use the good ol' "well your not my girlfriend" line. trust me, i would get to the bottom of this as soon as possible because you are only going to get hurt more later.
